Does coronavirus have you cooped up? Check out Middle Georgia’s trails, rivers, parks

During the coronavirus pandemic, people have been spending more time outdoors to participate in fun activities while preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Middle Georgia is home to several parks, rivers and trails for people to experience the outdoors while maintaining social distancing guidelines.

Here are some of the places in Middle Georgia people can go to enjoy nature.

Amerson River Park

Time: Open daily from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. in March-October and from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. November-February

Lake Tobesofkee - Sandy Beach

Address: 2800 Arrowhead Drive, Lizella, Georgia

Time: Open daily from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Ocmulgee River

Along the Ocmulgee River, there are several places to drop in a kayak or a river tube and float down the river for a few hours. Be sure to check the weather and water levels before going out on the river, and wear a floatation device.

Camping

Lake Tobesofkee

Address: 6600 Moseley Dixon Rd, Macon, Georgia

Cost: Tent - $18 per night for four people, RV - $22 per night for four people, RV with sewage - $25 per night for four people. Additional fees may apply, and they can be found at the Lake’s website.
