2 arrested after police find evidence of dog fighting, animal cruelty at Macon home

An early-morning eviction at a Macon home Wednesday led to the discovery of evidence of animal cruelty and dog fighting, according to a sheriff’s deputy.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Sgt. Clay Williams said animal control enforcement and sheriff’s investigators were subsequently dispatched to the 600 block of Poppy Avenue.

They determined there was enough evidence to secure a search warrant, he said.

Two people, a father and son, were taken into custody in connection with animal cruelty and dog fighting, Williams said.

Dale Fluellen, 62, and Christopher Shawn Fluellen, 43, were each charged with 10 counts of prohibited dog fighting and related conduct, according to jail records. The charges are felonies.

Both were being held without bond at the Bibb County jail.

The dogs were removed from the home, where both the father and son lived, according to the sheriff’s office.

The mixed-breed dogs were take to a vet to be checked for medical issues and treatment and then were to be taken to the Macon Bibb Animal Shelter.

Another dog was also found at the residence that belonged to a person who did not live there. This dog showed no signs of abuse or having been involved in dog fighting, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
