Search for missing Warner Robins man in Lake Tobesofkee ends with discovery of his body

The body of a man who disappeared into Lake Tobesofkee on Saturday has been recovered, according to officials.

Samuel Lamar Williams, 32 of Warner Robins, was floating on a tube in the swimming area of the lake with his family Saturday evening when he fell off. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Williams did not know how to swim and witnesses were unable to help him before he went under the surface.

The Bibb County Fire Department and Department of Natural Resources attempted to locate Williams Saturday night, before calling off the search and resuming it Sunday morning.

Williams’ body was pulled from the lake Sunday, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. His body was recovered around 9:45 a.m.

Claystone Beach Park is expected to remain closed today. Sandy Beach and Arrowhead parks are open.
