Another round of severe weather possible for Middle Georgia on Thursday

More severe weather could hit Bibb County on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.

“For that general area ... the threat level is what we might describe as a 3 out 5 with 5 being a very widespread severe storm situation,” said Katie Martin, forecaster for the NWS in Peachtree City. “A lot will still be kinda fine-tuned in the next 24 hours or so.

“But basically, right now have the possibility for pretty much all three primary severe weather factors. There’s a tornado threat, there’s a damaging wind threat as well as hail,” she said.

Timing is still a little bit uncertain, but it’s likely the time period for the stronger severe storms Thursday would be afternoon and into the evening, Martin said.

A NWS map shows Middle Georgia under the enhanced risk level of 3.

A EF-0 tornado touched down in south Houston County on Elko Road early Monday. The tornado was short lived and in an area where the only damage was to a wooded section of roadway, the Houston County Emergency Management Agency posted on Facebook.

The Monday before that an EF-1 damaged buildings in north Macon.
