The victim was identified as the homeowner, Mary Frances Stenson, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

A passerby called in the fire at 8925 Thomaston Road just before 10 p.m.

Arriving firefighters were able to get the fire under control and put it out. A search of the heavily-damaged home was done and Stenson’s body was found.

Two firefighters were treated at the emergency room: one for smoke inhalation and the other for cuts from broken debris.

An autopsy is scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
