Tornado watch issued for Middle Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Middle Georgia.

A low pressure system moving across the southeast is expected to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms, according to the NWS forecast.

“A threat for severe weather exists, mainly for areas south of Interstate 20,” the forecast stated. “Hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are all possible with this system.

“To the north of this severe risk, the threat for heavy rain will exist which could lead to localized flooding.”

The tornado watch is expected to be in effect until 4 p.m.
