67-year-old woman dead after two-vehicle crash in Macon

A 67-year-old woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Wimbish Road at Blanton Boulevard in Macon.

Delores Austin of Macon was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where she was pronounced dead, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

At 3:49 p.m., Austin was traveling east on Wimbish Road in a GMC Terrain when it crossed the center line, striking a Chevy Silverado, the release said. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch. The other driver was not injured.

Austin apparently had a medical condition that caused her to lose control of her vehicle, the release said.

The accident is under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
