Bibb County man and his 1-year-old stepson found safe, sheriff’s office says

A Bibb County man and his 1-year-old stepson returned home a few hours after they were reported missing by the sheriff’s department.

The man, Justin Melvin Vinson, 35, and his stepson, Nathaniel Howard, were last seen Tuesday afternoon, according to a sheriff’s statement.

The pair were last known to be at Vinson’s mother’s residence in the 3300 block of North Ingle Place, which runs off Northside Drive near John Drew Smith Tennis Center and Riverside Drive in north Macon.

The statement said they left Vinson’s mother’s place about 4 p.m. in a maroon Hyundai Elantra, license plate No. RMA7114, and were heading home to Wilder Road in Lizella but did not make it to the residence.

Both Vinson and Howard were unharmed Wednesday when they returned, the statement said.

The incident is under investigation.

Anyone with information about where the two might be is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500.
