Child hit by vehicle in Macon

A child on the edge of her driveway was hit by a vehicle traveling down St. Charles Place on Saturday afternoon.

The girl, identified as 7-year-old Zmya Whitus, was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, said Bibb County sheriff’s Lt. Sean DeFoe.

She was in stable condition Saturday night, DeFoe said.

The incident took place at 4077 Saint Charles Place just before 4:45 p.m.

The child was on the edge of her driveway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Saint Charles Place, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The driver of the vehicle kept going.

The vehicle was possibly a Honda or Nissan with four doors.

The incident remains under investigation.
