It has never been this hot in Macon in October. But it won’t be for long
If you’ve noticed the unseasonably warm weather in Georgia this fall, you’re not alone.
Macon set a record high Tuesday of 92 degrees just after 3 p.m. at Middle Georgia Regional Airport.
This high, which is 15 degrees warmer than normal for mid-October, beats the prior record high of 88 degrees set just three years ago.
Temperatures are headed down to more seasonal normals toward the end of this week, but a cold front moving through over the weekend will be a weather game-changer.
After a high of about 80 Wednesday in Macon, high temps drop into the low 70s Thursday and Friday, then the mid 70s Saturday before highs in the upper 60s are forecast for Sunday and Monday.
By the weekend, low temperatures will drop to the low to mid 40s and as low as the upper 30s in the mountains of north Georgia.
