Motorists traveling on Ga. 247 are having to detour around fire hoses early Thursday.

Macon-Bibb County Fire Chief Marvin Riggins said the highway will be closed until about 7 a.m. as crews fight the fire at Rogers Accounting.

At about 3:30 a.m., firefighters were leaving another fire at Dub’s Big Rig Rehab at 2224 Barnes Road when they came up on the other blaze.

“There was a lot of fire when we first got here and gust in the 20 mph range helped fan it a little bit,” Riggins said.

He urges those traveling north on Hawkinsville Road to detour at Allen Road to Houston Road and back onto Ga. 247. Those traveling south can detour at Houston Road to Allen Road to avoid the fire scene.

No word yet on what caused the fires.
