The United Way of Central Georgia announced a quarter-million dollars in grant money Thursday that must be matched to accelerate its new veterans support initiative.

The initiative, called Mission United, helps veterans navigate through and take advantage of the many services available to them, according to a Thursday statement from the nonprofit.

The aim is to help ensure that veterans get the help they need — from health services to educational opportunities — and don't slip through the cracks.

The public is invited to donate to Mission United to help match the $250,000 grant.
