Georgia boy who received Christmas ornaments from around the world has died
Hundreds of people from around the world sent Christmas ornaments to a 6-year-old Hiram boy with inoperable brain cancer.
Wednesday night, Brantley Dobbs died peacefully surrounded by those who loved him most.
His care-givers, Hospice Atlanta, released this statement on Facebook:
"With mom's permission, we can share that Brantley passed peacefully last night surrounded by his family. His sister, Lucy, was sleeping soundly at the foot of his bed. Brantley's family sends their heart felt gratitude for all of the love and support sent their way.
"The death of a child, especially at this time of year, is incredibly daunting. Please continue sending them love and light through your thoughts and prayers. Pediatric bereavement will follow Brantley’s family for 24 months. Due to the overwhelming response of ornaments, we are asking that in lieu of ornaments – please make a donation in Brantley’s honor to Hospice Atlanta Pediatric Program."
An October Facebook post by a family friend asking if anyone wanted to send Brantley an ornament went viral, touching the hearts of people around the world, numerous media outlets reported.
