Interstates 75 and 16 lanes closing for weekend work near split
Driving on Interstate 75 through Macon this weekend might be a little more challenging.
Construction crews working on the interchange project near I-16 will be closing lanes near Hardeman Avenue and the Ocmulgee River bridge.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, the right southbound lane of I-75 will close near the Hardeman off ramp so that the exit can be realigned.
Once that work is done, the crew will move to the northbound side and close a lane near the Hardeman on ramp for the same task.
At 9 p.m. Sunday, a work crew will close the left lane of westbound Interstate 16 to northbound I-75 so that contractors can install temporary stripes and pavement markers as part of the $500 million interchange reconstruction project.
The schedule is subject to change depending on the weather.
