Wreck to block Bass Road for hours
A wreck on Bass Road on Sunday knocked down a power pole and will block a portion of the road for several hours.
A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release said the wreck happened at about 5 p.m. at Westchester Drive. A 2008 Freightliner box truck was traveling north on Bass Road when the driver lost control and struck a power pole. The driver, James Trivette Jr., of North Carolina and a passenger were taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health and are listed in stable condition.
The power pole was knocked down and Georgia Power expects the repair to take six to seven hours, the release stated. During that time Bass Road will be blocked from Westchester to Providence Drive. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson said in an email that no power was lost due to the accident, but power may have to be turned off during the repair.
