Monroe County deputies are looking for a suspected meth and gun dealer who fled a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Bolingbroke.

A post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page said deputies stopped a car in Bolingbroke at Hayslips Hardware on U.S. 41.

“The vehicle was occupied by three individuals who were trafficking large amounts of Crystal Methamphetamine and Firearms,” the post stated. “All three exited the vehicle upon stopping, our deputy apprehended two of them but the driver got away and was last seen running behind Hayslips.”

Monroe County sheriff’s Sgt. Lawson Bittick identified the wanted suspect as Charles Reid, 33, of Cairo. He said the traffic stop occurred shortly after midnight when a deputy spotted the vehicle swerving. Reid pulled over and the three got out but at some point as the deputy was talking to them, all three ran.

Bittick said four pounds of methamphetamine and two guns were found in the vehicle. The two passengers, Reginald Gurley, 19, and Ashley Sorrow, 31, both of Cairo, are facing drug charges.

Reid was described as a black male with a piercing above his right eye, teardrop tattoos under both eyes and a cross tattoo on his forehead between his eyes. He was last seen wearing green jogging-type pants, a dark colored T-shirt with possible white lettering and a dark colored sock hat.

Anyone who sees someone fitting the description is advised not to make contact with him but to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 478-994-7010.
