Sewage problems shuts down Macon recreation center

A Macon recreation center is closed until a sewage pump issue can be resolved.

The Delores A. Brooks Recreation Center, formerly known as East Macon Recreation Center, was shut down Tuesday when issues with the sewage system arose, according to a news release.

Activities scheduled at the 3326 Ocmulgee E. Blvd. center have been moved to Rosa Jackson Community Center, 1211 Maynard St.

“I want to thank our crews from Facilities Management and Recreation departments for making this a priority,” County Commissioner Elaine Lucas said in the release. “I also want to thank the people in east Macon for their patience while this issue is being fixed and hope they will take advantage of what the Rosa Jackson Community Center has to offer.”

For more information about the Delores A. Brooks center’s activities, contact the Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department at 478-621-6280.
