Woman critically injured when shots fired into her East Macon apartment

A 21-year-old East Macon woman was critically injured late Saturday when shots were fired through the front door of her east Macon apartment.

Alexus Burnette was struck in the left leg in the 11:33 p.m. incident at Rain Tree Apartment, 1737 Graham Road, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Burnette heard beating at her front door, and moments later, the shots were fired, the release said.

Witnesses told deputies that two men in hoodies wearing all black fired the shots. One had a long gun and the other was carrying a handgun, the release said.

Burnette was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where she is listed in critical condition.

The shooting remains under investigation.
