Dangerous 108 degree heat index forecast for midstate
You need to be careful if you’re outside this afternoon. It’s going to be hot, humid and even dangerous.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 6 p.m. for much of Middle Georgia, forecasting temperatures up to 98 degrees, with the humidity making it feel like 105 degrees to 108 degrees.
The weather service warns that those outside or without air conditioning face heat related illnesses, including heat stroke and dehydration, if they don’t find a cool place, restrict outdoor activity and drink plenty of liquids.
And don’t leave kids or pets in a vehicle. The interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
