Alyssa Beasley crowned Miss Georgia 2017
After a night of lively competition, Alyssa Beasley, Miss Southeast Georgia, was crowned Miss Georgia 2017 Saturday at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in the 73rd Annual Miss Georgia Pageant.
Beasley will receive $17,500 in scholarship awards and will compete as Georgia’s representative in the 2017 Miss America pageant in Atlantic City this fall. She also won the overall swimsuit, talent and evening wear awards, as well as two preliminary awards earlier in the week.
Beasley and the first runner-up, Brooke Doss, Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom, embraced as the final decision was made.
“I am nervous, but also very excited [about the year ahead],” Beasley said after the ceremony. “I have worked very hard for this, and it is such an honor to be able to represent this state and to be able to present my platform.”
The night began with the narrowing of contestants down to a final 15, down from 54, based on their previous performance.

Miss Stone Mountain — Rosa Campos
Miss Fitzgerald — Kelly Donoghue
Miss International City — Sarah Deloach
Miss Rome — Sydney Hillman
Miss Cobb County — Chari Guzman
Miss University of Georgia — Hanna Holley
After the swimsuit competiion, the ten semi-finalists were:

Miss Stone Mountain — Rosa Campos

Miss Fitzgerald — Kelly Donoghue
Miss Atlanta — Paula Smith

Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom — Brooke Doss
Miss Harris County — Holly Haynes
Those 10 semifinalists went on to compete in the evening wear and talent competitions, with the final five contestants then answering one onstage question each from a judge.
Fourth runner-up, Sarah Deloach, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship. Third runner-up, Chari Guzman, was awarded a $3,500 scholarship. Second runner-up, Paula Smith, was awarded a $5,000 scholarship. First runner up, Brooke Doss, was awarded a $7,500 scholarship. All other semifinalists received scholarships as well.
