Public memorial service set for Morehouse College interim president William Taggart
Memorial services to honor Morehouse College interim president William J. “Bill” Taggart are set for Friday.
Taggart, an Atlanta native, died last week at age 55.
The services will begin at 10 a.m. with a private Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity ritual, according to a news release from the college.
A public memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the college’s Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel.
Following the funeral services, a repast will be held for family and friends.
Taggart, who was named interim president of Morehouse College in April 2017, had been chief operating officer at the college since 2015, according to his obituary.

He was a former president and CEO of Atlanta Life Financial Group and former chief operating officer for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Federal Student Aid in the Obama administration.
Taggart held degrees from Howard University and Harvard Business School.
