Property tax reminders are being sent out this week.

The Macon-Bibb County Tax Commissioner’s Office mailed letters Wednesday to people that owe delinquent property taxes from 2016. The notices will also include any back taxes from previous years, according to a news release.

Property owners have until March 14 to pay the taxes if they want to avoid additional penalties, starting with a 5 percent penalty and lien. For every 120 days after that another 5 percent penalty will be added until a maximum of 20 percent interest, the release said.

“We want to remind people now about the importance of settling these accounts so they can avoid the additional charges and liens,” Tax Commissioner Wade McCord said in the release.

For questions about the letter or how to make payments, contact the Tax Commissioner's Office at 478-621-6500.
