Voters find 3 sites closed on Election Day

Voters at three Bibb County precincts got a surprise Tuesday when they went to vote.

They found that their assigned voting location had closed.

Residents assigned to vote at Macon Charter Academy on Madison Street, the Well Church on Thomaston Road and Memorial Gym on Long Street found signs outside the polling places telling them that the locations were no longer voting precincts.

Printouts of directions to their new polling places were available with the sign.

According to the Bibb Board of Elections, the three polling sites were either closed or work was going on there. Election officials said they tried to contact voters beforehand to let them know about the new voting locations.
