Almost 1,400 new COVID-19 cases reported in Middle Georgia over the past week

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 9,521 cumulative COVID-19 cases in Middle Georgia in its 3 p.m. update Wednesday.

Here are other key takeaways:

Cases: 9,521 (+1,380 reported since Wednesday, July 29). Bibb County has recorded the most positive cases with 3,353. Peach County saw a sharp rise to more than 350 cases.

Deaths: 231 (+22 reported since Wednesday, July 29). It’s important to note that these numbers indicate when deaths are reported to the Georgia Department of Public Health. It does not reflect when these deaths occurred.

Cases per person: Baldwin County has the most cases per 100,000 with 2,224. Next in Middle Georgia is Washington County with 2,212. Crawford County has the fewest with 801.

The health department is not reporting how many Georgians have recovered.
