Nearly 1,700 COVID-19 cases reported in Middle Georgia. Here are the cases by county

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 1,690 positive COVID-19 cases in Middle Georgia in its 1 p.m. update Wednesday, an increase of 21 since 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Bibb County leads the area with 404 total cases and has 18 deaths, the most in Middle Georgia.

State health officials have not provided a breakdown of the residents tested for COVID-19 in each county. The state is also not tracking the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19.

At 1 p.m., the state of Georgia reported 39,647 confirmed cases and 1,687 deaths, with 73 of those in Middle Georgia.
