United Way and Community Foundation announce $35K in grants for coronavirus recovery

The Community Foundation of Central Georgia and United Way of Central Georgia announced the fourth round of grants from the Central Georgia COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund — totaling $35,000 — to three local organizations.

In addition to the latest round of grants, the fund committee is also starting a $3,000 public service information campaign directed toward seniors and other at-risk individuals.

The grants are part of an ongoing process to provide relief to Middle Georgia as the committee approves dollar amounts for those organizations in need. The committee is also meeting every two weeks to determine what the most critical needs are with local nonprofit leaders.

The most recent grants were:

  • $17,500 to Crawford County School District to outfit five buses with mobile Wi-Fi hotspots to provide internet access to over 300 students.
  • $10,000 to Middle Georgia Community Food Bank In order to provide support for food pantry needs in Barnesville and Warner Robins.
  • $5,000 to Bibb Mt. Zion Church to provide assistance with bills, food, and more to 75 families.
