More than 1,230 coronavirus cases, 47 deaths reported in Middle Georgia

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 1,236 positive COVID-19 cases in Middle Georgia in its 7 p.m. Sunday, an increase of six cases since noon.

Bibb County leads the area with 321 total cases. Houston County has the most deaths with 14.

Houston County had the largest increase with five new cases. Peach County had two cases removed since the last update.

State health officials have not provided a breakdown of the residents tested for COVID-19 in each county. The state is also not tracking the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19.

  • Bleckley 20, 0

  • Crawford 18, 0

  • Twiggs 8, 0

At 7 p.m., the state of Georgia reported 28,671 confirmed cases and 1,179 deaths, with 47 of those in Middle Georgia.
