Contractor with Robins Air Force Base dies from coronavirus, officials say

A contractor at Robins Air Force Base, who was last at work in mid-March, has died as a result of COVID-19, according to a press release from the base.

The individual died on April 3 after being treated for respiratory complications and later tested positive for the new coronavirus.

“We are saddened by the loss of an Air Force Life Cycle Management Center contract teammate,” Colonel Brian Moore, Robins Installation commander, said in the release. “This is a difficult time for all as this virus increasingly affects the base and community.”

The person had been working remotely since mid-March. The name of the individual is not being released due to HIPAA laws.

Houston County leads the Middle Georgia area with 70 confirmed cases and six confirmed deaths.
