Middle Georgia’s first coronavirus-related death is Houston County resident

A Middle Georgia resident has died due to complications from COVID-19, the North Central Health District confirmed.

The individual was a 64-year-old male Houston County resident.

The death is the first related to the new coronavirus in the North Central Health District’s 13 county area, which includes Macon-Bibb, Peach, Twiggs, Monroe, Baldwin, Jones and Washington counties. The individual’s identity will not be released by the NCHD.

As of noon, the state health department had reported 1,247 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 40 deaths.
