Fraudulent texts target State Bank customers with 478 area code
Fraudulent text messages are targeting customers of Macon-based State Bank and Trust who have 478 area code.
Bank officials are aware of a fraudulent text message or phishing campaign that is targeting mobile numbers with a 478 area code, according to a news release. The texts are attempting to gain personal client information regarding customers’ debit card or online banking credentials.
Both State Bank clients and non-clients are being targeted, the release said. State Bank is taking all measures to ensure client information remains safe, including working closely with authorities and local law enforcement.
“Client confidence and trust is our highest priority and we will vigilantly continue to monitor and take all necessary action,” the release said.
Customers that receive an unfamiliar or suspicious text message, or have any questions about their banking activity, should call 800-414-4177.
