The Brick to open Macon restaurant by end of May

Nearly 16 months after The Brick announced it was coming to Macon, the restaurant is expected to open by Memorial Day.

The Brick, which has been an established, popular restaurant in downtown Milledgeville for more than 20 years, is opening in a 5,300-square-foot space with a patio on the first floor at the Lofts at College Hill. The 250-seat restaurant joins the mixed-use retail and loft development behind the College Street post office.

The company has transferred five employees from the Milledgeville location, has hired some staff and begun training them, according to a news release. The eatery is expected to employ 65 to 70 employees. Anyone interested in applying for a job should send an email with a resume and contact information to frank@thebrick93.com.

When plans for the Macon restaurant were first announced by The Telegraph in January 2015, it was expected to open last July.

“No one wants us to be open more than we do,” owner Frank Pendergast said in the release. “But if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.”
