Coliseum names award recipients
Coliseum Health System announced the 2015 HCA Awards of Distinction at both Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital. The HCA Awards of Distinction include the Frist Humanitarian Awards, the HCA Excellence in Nursing Award and the Innovators Award -- the company's highest honors.
The 2015 recipients from Coliseum Medical Centers are Betty Ethridge, operating room nurse, Excellence in Nursing Award for Professional Mentoring; A. Keith Martin, Physician Frist Humanitarian of the Year; Karen Thompson, oncology nurse, Excellence in Nursing Award for Compassionate Care; Carole Radney, diabetes education coordinator, Employee Frist Humanitarian of the Year.
The 2015 Award Recipients from Coliseum Northside Hospital are Kim Freeman, case management, Excellence in Nursing Award for Compassionate Care; Angela Lintz, director of orthopaedics/spine, Excellence in Nursing Award for Professional Mentoring and Innovators Award for Service Excellence; Michael Dykes, director of ICU/emergency department, Innovators Award for Quality and Patient Safety; Jim Gay, emergency department, Employee Frist Humanitarian of the Year; and Anna Eaton, Volunteer Frist Humanitarian of the Year.
Tri-County EMC welcomes new CEO
Tri-County EMC's board of directors has named Ray Grinberg the new chief executive officer. Grinberg has served as general manager of Lakeview Light and Power in Lakewood, Washington, since 2014. He will succeed C. Hill Bentley, who has led the cooperative since 1999. Grinberg begins his duties on May 16.
Grinberg has more than 30 years of utility experience. Before Lakeview Light and Power, he served as the power resources director at Peninsula Light Co. in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Medical Society presents awards
The Bibb County Medical Society has named the recipients of its 2015 awards.
The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Lynn T. Denny. She completed her residency in family medicine at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She is board certified in family medicine. She served as medical director of the Macon Volunteer Clinic from its opening in 2003 until December 2015. She was recognized for her dedication to providing care for patients and for her work in helping organize and coordinate other free clinics across the state.
The Physician of the Year Award was presented to William F. Bina III. He has served as the dean of the Mercer University School of Medicine since 2009. A family physician who is board certified in family medicine and in preventive medicine, Bina has been an advocate for medical care in rural areas of the state as well as a leader of medical mission trips to countries in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Gayle Bina. Bina is the assistant director for Mercer University's international medical programs. She volunteers in many community activities, including Rooms from the Heart. She has also coordinated and participated in medical mission trips to China, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
March of Dimes names Davis manager
Glenda Davis has joined the March of Dimes as senior development manager of Macon and Columbus. Davis will oversee all fundraising campaigns. Based in Macon, she will also be involved in program services, community education and advocacy. She brings eight years of development experience and management experience to the March of Dimes. Before her new position, she served at the American Cancer Society, where she generated revenue through corporate sponsorship and directed community managers and event development.
Conway earns insurance license
Heart of Georgia Insurance Brokers, a local company that specializes in individual health insurance products and employee benefits, announced that Chanté Conway has obtained her life and health insurance license. Conway joined Heart of Georgia Insurance Brokers in September 2015 to assist agents and clients with health insurance needs.
