Subway to open a new store in east Macon

A new Subway restaurant is coming to Macon.

The newly built store will be connected to a new Exxon gas and convenience store at 2630 Emery Highway in east Macon, according to a release.

It is expected to open at 7 a.m. April 20, and each customer that day will receive a free cookie and be able to get any foot-long sub sandwich for $6.

Subway was founded in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and the submarine sandwich chain currently has more than 44,000 locations around the world, according to its website.
