Fairview's parent firm named most ethical

Hospital Corporation of America, which owns Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, was recognized as a 2016 World's Most Ethical Company by the Ethisphere Institute. This is the seventh consecutive year that HCA has been recognized. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the designation.

Tri-County EMC CEO honored

Tri-County EMC president and CEO C. Hill Bentley has been named 2016 Distinguished Cooperator by the Georgia Cooperative Council.

He serves on the board of directors of Oglethorpe Power Corp., one of the nation's largest power supply cooperatives, serving 38 EMCs. He is the manager director for the Southern Group and a member of the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Georgia Rural Electric Managers Association and serves on the board of the Georgia Electric Membership Corp.

A native of Crawford County, Bentley began work in the utility industry in 1967 with Georgia Power.

Cox names Pope new VP and manager

Cox Communications announced that Anthony Pope will take over as senior vice president and Southeast region manager. In his new capacity, Pope will be responsible for leading 1,900 employees and the day-to-day operations of six markets located throughout Louisiana, Florida and Georgia.

Pope's most recent role in telecommunications was with Charter Communications, where he served as vice president and general manager for properties in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

The Cox Southeast region market includes Macon.

Bushway and Waystack in Top 100

The National Trial Lawyers announced that attorneys Gregory Bushway and Keagan Waystack, of Bushway & Waystack, have been selected for inclusion into its Top 100 Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers in Georgia. Membership is by invitation only and is limited to the top 100 attorneys in each state or region who have demonstrated excellence in their careers in either civil plaintiff or criminal defense law.

L.H. Thomson honors three employees

L.H. Thomson Co. recognized employees with 20 or more years of service to the company.

Jane Tolbert has achieved 25 years of service. She began in the 1990s operating manual saws and gear shaper machines. Tolbert is a certified forklift operator and ensures that materials move efficiently through the plant.

Irene Calhoun also has 25 years of service. She began by loading and stacking A/C manifold bases, which Thomson supplied to the Ford Motor Co. She has performed the hand work of filing and grinding and ran several manual machines before she began assembling parts and was assigned to the first-ever bike assembly team.

James Bell has achieved 20 years. Bell began as a machine operator. He came with experience in electronics and quickly learned to operate machining centers.

Breast Care Center receives honor

The Breast Care Center at Navicent Health has been designated a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence, the highest level attainable, by the National Consortium of Breast Centers Inc.

In order to obtain and maintain this designation, the center was required to meet or exceed multiple quality measures.
