The nearly yearlong wait is almost over.
Fazoli's is planning to open March 1 at 6237 Zebulon Road, according to an email from Lauren Bradley field marketing coordinator with Lexington, Kentucky-based Fazoli's, an Italian-American restaurant chain.
"We have hired almost 60 employees, and folks can visit the restaurant to inquire about job opportunities," Allen Peake said in an email. Peake and Mike Chumbley own C&P Restaurant Co., a franchise group that plans to build a total of six Fazoli's in Georgia. Other locations are in Warner Robins, Athens, Augusta, Columbus and Savannah.
The Macon restaurant will be open 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week.

"We expect to draw from the entire Middle Georgia area as many folks remember how delicious Fazoli's was," said Peake, who is a state representative. "And the closest one is Valdosta to the south and Fort Oglethorpe in the north part of Georgia."
The company announced in March last year that it planned to bring Fazoli's back to Middle Georgia.
As executives and minority owners of RMS Family Restaurants, Peake and Chumbley operated 12 Fazoli's in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, the release stated. RMS sold its Fazoli's restaurants in 2000, and they eventually closed.
"We have been eager to bring back Fazoli's for several years, and have just been waiting for the right time and location," Peake said. "I have been overwhelmed with the level of enthusiasm from customers who can't wait to have Fazoli's back in Middle Georgia. We plan to begin construction on our site in Warner Robins at (Ga.) 96 and Houston Lake Road in the next several months."
Based in Macon, C&P is also a Captain D's and Cheddar's franchise.
