H&M fashion retailer planning a store at River Crossing in Bibb County
A Sweden-based clothing retailer is headed to north Bibb County.
H&M, a worldwide fashion retailer known for affordable apparel, is moving into about 19,000 square feet of space at The Shoppes at River Crossing, according to a news release. It is expected to open this fall.
"H&M is especially excited to expand its reach in Georgia, a growing market for the retailer, and add to the 10 locations currently open in the state," the release said.
The store will offer clothing for the whole family, with collections for women and men, as well as separate "store within a store" sections for accessories.
Also, this store will carry H&M's children's collection for 9 to 14 year olds.
The company "prides itself on its support of local economies by adding jobs with each new location," the release said. For available job opportunities, go to career.hm.com. At this time a store manager position is the only job listed on the site. The company did not respond by late Wednesday to a question about how many people the store would employ.
In 2015, H&M was ranked No. 21 on a list of 100 Best Global Brands by Interbrand, and it was selected as a top 25 Best Multinational Workplace by the Great Place to Work Institute.
H&M, also known as Hennes & Mauritz, was founded in Sweden in 1947. The company, which operates under different names, has more than 3,900 stores in 61 markets.
