Virginia Sharp, co-owner of Daemarii's Unique Boutique, 2384 Ingleside Ave., Macon. She owns it with her husband, Eddie Sharp. Hours: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

How long have you been in business?: She has been in business since October 2014. She had worked as a nurse for 27 years. For the last 17 years of that time she worked as a nurse liaison in marketing and sales in the medical field before opening the boutique.

"I always wanted my own boutique -- something cute and something small. In February of (2014) I turned 50, and I wanted to do something the second half of my life that I really wanted to do and love. And that was to open my own boutique and give customers here in my local town a small-town feel ... and more of a personal connection when they come into the store."

When she first opened, it was a consignment shop. Then she began to bring in new items and after about six months converted over to selling only new items.

What do you like best about your job?: "The shopping for the store, the customer service. ... When they come in, they are well received and when they leave how they feel great. That's the most exciting part of my day."

What is your specialty?: "I sell ladies clothes, but I specialize more in the tops, shirts, cute jackets. ... I'm a big cowboy boot fan."

The shop carries clothing from small to 3X as well as jewelry, scarves, boots and socks.

What are your future plans?: She plans to open another store, maybe two, in small towns in the next two years.
