The Georgia Department of Labor is helping a highway and heavy construction company recruit about 200 workers for projects in north and Middle Georgia.

Marietta-based C.W. Matthews has construction projects planned in Cartersville, Cumming, Dawsonville, Gainesville, Griffin, Macon, Marietta, Norcross, Rome and Stockbridge, according to a news release.

The recruitment will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the company headquarters at 1600 Kenview Drive in Marietta.

The company will be hiring carpenters, drivers with a commercial driver's license, concrete finishers, distributors, equipment operators, foremen, pipe layers, superintendents and traffic-control coordinators, the release said. Some on-the-spot hiring opportunities will be available. All applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Labor department staff will be available to help applicants in the screening process. Applicants are encouraged to bring a resume and dress business casual to improve their opportunities for jobs.

Job seekers planning to attend the recruitment are encouraged to visit www.employgeorgia.com to create an account and upload or create a resume. The interview process is faster for those with an account.
