Douglas in first class program

Shawn Douglas, Middle Georgia State University's police chief and assistant vice president for police services and risk management, graduated in December 2015 as a member of the first class of the Chief's Leadership Initiative Program, sponsored by the University System of Georgia. The new program assists USG police chiefs with increasing professionalism in their departments and enhancing community policing efforts by improving their management skills.

Smith promoted to president

Rodney Smith has been promoted to president of Parrish Construction Group Inc., a Perry-based commercial construction company founded in 1995.

Smith began his career at Parrish in 2002 as an assistant project manager. In 2012, Smith was promoted to senior vice president and also became an equity partner in the business. During his tenure in that position, he was responsible for all construction operations in what has proven to be the company's most dynamic period of growth since its inception in 1995.
