Business 1 on 1 with Deanna Green, co-owner of Kay-Lynn Massage & Bodywork Studio
Deanna Green, co-owner of Kay-Lynn Massage & Bodywork Studio; 2370A Ingleside Ave., 621-4150, kaylynnmassage.com. She owns the business with her identical twin, Deidra Harris. The shop is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Saturday.
How long have you been in business?: "Kay-Lynn has been open since August 2014. We had both been in the massage business. She started in '07 and I started in 1998. We'd been doing massage in different areas and different aspects, and we both moved to Macon in July of 2014. That was the first time in our adult lives that we had lived in the same place. So we decided to work together as well."
Before moving to Macon, Deanna worked in Flowery Branch and Deidra was in Columbia, South Carolina.
"It's the first time of owning our own business. ... We love it here. We are overjoyed at how much we enjoy being in Macon and especially in the (Ingleside) Village. ... We've always talked about having a studio together."
What do you like best about your job?: "The reactions we get after the massage, whether it's someone who's looking for relaxation, and they're just a wonderful puddle of nothing at the end. Or if it's someone who's had chronic pain, and they say, 'This is wonderful, and I can turn my head for the first time in three weeks.' It's a very rewarding career."
What is your specialty?: "We are a massage studio only. ... We do therapeutic massage in a relaxing spa atmosphere. Some people are referred by doctors. We offer relaxation, deep tissue, hot stone massage as well as cupping massage, which most people aren't aware of."
What are your future plans?: Other than bringing in more customers, there is no plan to expand the business at this time.
