Forum in Macon this week to address housing and other issues

A three-day forum this week will help address issues and solutions affecting people who work in the real estate industry or with community agencies and institutions as well as the general public.

The forum, titled "Macon a Better Community: The ABC's of Transforming a Community through Empowerment and Collaboration," will be held Thursday-Saturday at Wesleyan College, according to a release.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about resources available in Middle Georgia that impact affordable housing and other issues. Sessions throughout the forum include topics such as the basics of starting a business, how to remove blight, how to help clients prevent foreclosure, how to enhance a career, and tips for new home buyers and current homeowners.

Also, a job fair will be held noon-2 p.m. Thursday in the lobby of Porter Auditorium. Other sessions are in various locations on campus. For more information, go to www.mgar.org and click on the "consumer info" link.

The forum is sponsored by the Middle Georgia Association of Realtors' affordable housing committee with the cooperation of several other businesses and individuals.
