Michael Nungesser, owner of Five Star Painting of Central Georgia, 845-2886, a mobile, home-based business. Nungesser was a managing partner and minority owner of Champion Window Co. before buying Five Star Painting in January this year.

"I've been in home improvement since 2006 ... and being a 100-percent owner of a company is something I always wanted to do. My customers at Champion always asked me if knew a good painter. ... So, I wanted to bring professionalism to the painting industry."

What do you like best about your job?: "I like solving people's problems. I like helping them with a home improvement solution and making a difference. ... You can very economically improve your home with paint.

"I run six crews. What I do is manage the process. I get the crews in place and make sure they have the right materials, they show up when they are supposed to, and I ensure that the job is done in a quality fashion."

What is your specialty?: "We primarily focus on residential repaint (jobs). We do all commercial, residential, industrial but mostly residential repaints. There's not too many new home construction going on. We work directly with homeowners primarily. We do interior and exterior painting."

What are your future plans?: "I would like to expand to other territories outside Middle Georgia and to invest in other home service contracts ... like appliance repair and landscaping."
