Faces and places: Mercer's Gushee elected VP of religion board

Mercer University professor David Gushee was elected vice president of the American Academy of Religion board of directors. The AAR is the world's largest professional association of scholars who study religion, with 9,000 members representing some 900 colleges, universities, seminaries and schools in North America and abroad.

At Mercer, he teaches in McAfee School of Theology and throughout the university in his specialty, Christian ethics. As director of the Center for Theology and Public Life, he organizes events and courses to advance quality conversations about major issues arising at the intersection of theology, ethics and public policy.

He is the author or editor of 20 books and hundreds of articles in his field.

Griffis promoted to senior vice president

Parrish Construction Group announced that Charlie Griffis has been promoted to senior vice president.

Griffis joined Parrish in 2005 as an assistant project manager and has also served as an estimator before being promoted to director of preconstruction services in 2007. In 2010 he was promoted to vice president and in 2012 he became an equity partner in the closely held business.

In his new role, Griffis will remain as the company's business unit leader for its midstate and south Georgia operations.

Robins Federal announces manager, employees of quarter

Each quarter, Robins Federal Credit Union selects three employees that represent the best of the best in three categories: manager, support department staff and branch staff. Employees are selected by management based on their outstanding work performance and written recommendations from their peers.

The winners are Susan Collins, Tonya Acree and Jaime Davis.

Collins is the manager of the Perry branch. She has been employed with Robins Federal Credit Union for 19 years. Collins has previously worked as a teller, member service representative, and assistant manager before becoming the branch manager.

Acree is an account executive. She has been employed with Robins Federal for 12 years.

Davis is a member service representative. She has been employed with Robins Federal for five years.
