Renovation of Northside Drive office building in Macon has been completed

The transformation of a long-vacant building on Northside Drive in Macon has been completed.

A celebration of the renovated office building North Commons at 3330 Northside Drive will be held beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday followed by tours of the two-story structure, according to a news release.

Developer Dwight Jones, president of Ocmulgee Fields Inc., bought the 25,000-square-foot building in 2013. The roof was leaking, it didn't have any natural lighting and it had been vandalized, he said last year shortly before construction began. The building, which used to be called North Macon Professional Building, was built in the 1980s as a racquetball club.

North Commons features a two-story atrium with a wide staircase, elevator and interior hallways. Spaces from 1,600 square feet are available and will be customized for the tenant. The energy-star rated building exceeds current building standards, the release stated.
