Georgia’s sales tax holiday for energy efficient items begins Friday
Anyone in the market for energy-saving appliances or other household items will be able to buy them tax free this weekend.
Georgia’s annual sales tax holiday for energy efficient Energy Star products runs Friday through Sunday, according to a release from Georgia Power.
Shoppers who make a qualifying purchase are exempt from paying state and local sales tax on a number of household items, such as appliances, compact fluorescent light bulbs, doors, windows and thermostats.
Also, customers who buy qualified Energy Star appliances, including refrigerators, air conditioners, clothes washers, may be eligible to receive additional rebates from Georgia Power. The company also is offering instant savings of $2–$6 on select packs of Energy Star certified CFLs and LEDs at participating Costco, Home Depot and Wal-Mart locations through the end of November.
