Business 1 on 1 with Shane Coulter, Automotion Customs
Shane Coulter, co-owner of Automotion Customs Inc., 12106 Ga. 247, Warner Robins, 744-9501. He owns the business with his wife, Jennifer Coulter. The company opened another location at 4480-A Val North Drive in Valdosta about eight months ago.
How long have you been in business?: While in the Coast Guard and living in Cambridge, Maryland, Coulter started a similar business and sold it in 1999. When he moved back to Georgia in 2000, he started a mobile business, working at automotive dealerships, installing leather interiors and electronics.
“About 2002 we decided to have a location in Macon. We were on Gray Highway and found we had as many customers in Warner Robins as in Macon.”
He opened a shop on Hawkinsville Road near Smiley’s Flea Market and “we outgrew that location and moved to this location a little over year ago.”
What do you like best about your job?: “Just changing the whole appearance of a vehicle by adding custom leather ... and personalizing it for the person who owns it.
What is your specialty?: “Our speciality is installing brand new leather interiors that were originally cloth.”
The second biggest thing the company does is speciality electronics, including headrest DVD, cruise controls, backup cameras and remote starts.
What are your future plans?: “We are going to continue to grow here in this location, especially the truck accessory side.”
