Expansion of Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in south Bibb is underway

Construction is underway at Macon’s Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in south Bibb County.

The project would add 216 crypts, 198 niches and expand the size of the chapel by 50 percent at the cemetery located at 7070 Houston Road, according to a release.

The interior crypts will feature marble fronts, and the exterior crypts’ fronts will be made of granite. The niches, used for placement of urns with cremated remains, will offer marble fronts on the interior niches and granite for the exterior niches.

Glass front niches also would be available for the first time, which will allow the interred urn to be viewed from the outside.

As part of the project, the mausoleum will get a new floor and new HVAC system.

Construction is expected to be completed by early next year.
