The new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Warner Robins opened to the community at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The 41,000-square-foot store at Russell Parkway and Lake Joy Road will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to a release from the company.

As part of its opening celebration, the company will offer family activities and free food samples during a welcoming event from noon-3 p.m. Saturday.

Customers will also find on-site services including a pharmacy and fuel station and free store pickup, which allows customers to shop at www.Walmart.com and pick up the items in the store.

The new store will employ up to 95 full- and part-time employees. Anyone interested in a career at the store can apply at the store’s hiring kiosk or online at www.Walmartcareers.com. Store manager Nikki Hutto began her Wal-Mart career in 2013 as an assistant manager in an Evans store.

The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $8,000 in grants from the Walmart Foundation to local community groups, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia and the Central Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The company has another Neighborhood Market store planned for the site of the closed Family Mart grocery store at the corner of North Houston Road and Green Street in the northern part of the city.

The Arkansas-based company has more than 11,400 stores in 27 countries, and it employs more than 2 million workers worldwide.
