Allegiant adds new routes at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Destinations, dates

Thirty new and returning seasonal Allegiant Air routes are coming to Florida - with many of them set to provide service to and from Fort Lauderdale.

Eight of the Allegiant routes, largely set to begin in the latter half of 2026, are new for the Las Vegas-based carrier, which is known for connecting small to mid-size cities to popular leisure destinations. Allegiant is one of several airlines moving to fill gaps left by Spirit Airlines' abrupt shutdown, joining carriers including American Airlines, Avianca and JetBlue in adding flights to Fort Lauderdale, in particular.

According to a WARN notice received by the state on May 4, 2,529 employees at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were affected by layoffs that began on May 2. At Miami International Airport, 181 employees were affected, starting on the same date. The closures affected a total of 4,057 employees across Florida.

"We're excited to announce these new routes and believe it is an important time for Allegiant to increase travel options in these markets," said Drew Wells, Allegiant's chief commercial officer, in a May 19 release.
