Tesla expands robotaxis to Miami, joins Waymo. Where you can get a ride
Tesla has expanded its robotaxi services into Miami, albeit in a limited geographic area.
In a July 3rd social media post, the company announced that autonomous vehicles were available in a bounded area, largely comprised of West Miami.
Tesla launched the initiative in June of last year in Austin, with vehicles currently operating in parts of Texas and California. The company previously expressed an interest in expanding robotaxi services into Miami, along with Phoenix, Tampa, Orlando and Las Vegas.
Waymo also expands into Miami metro this year
In January, Waymo launched services in Coral Gables, Brickell, Wynwood, Little Havana and Coconut Grove, among other areas. Coverage later expanded to include Surfside, Bal Harbour and Miami Beach, and the company also announced it was beginning to "introduce highway travel" in April.
"Every expansion and progression to open access reflects our belief that the best way to serve a city is to keep earning its trust, ride by ride," read a release by the company. "We're proud to deepen our roots in Florida, and we look forward to welcoming more riders."
